Rustic Wedding

Cake Pops

This wedding cake had such an understated yet romantic and rustic feel.  Frosted entirely in buttercream, the top tier was covered in abstract fondant flowers.  Sitting on the top of the bottom tier was fresh lavendar which smelled amazing!  The bride also offered a variety of decadent cake pops which I'm sure were gobbled up quickly.

Floral Buttercream

This was one of my most romatic cakes yet this year.  Frosted entirely in buttercream, all flowers were hand made from fondant and gumpaste.  The smaller side cake you see above was what the bride and groom actually cut into.  The mini cake is sitting on a family cake pedestal so the bride could follow her families tradition by using that in her wedding.

Yellow and Gray Baby Shower Cake

This is such a sweet baby shower cake.  The soft yellow and gray palette provided a perfect backdrop for the hand painted baby crib on the top of the cake.  Additionally, cupcakes designed in the same color pattern but topped with animals also accompanied this order (not pictured).

Flower Boxes

April showers bring May flowers and such was the case for this wedding shower cake.  The cake was inspired by the bright spring flowers and coupled with the seeds to a grow a happy marriage of Love, Laughter and Happiness.  Nested in the middle of the sugar flowers are a set of fondant wedding rings.

Happy Quinc Vanessa!

Vanessa had an amazing party to celebrate her 15th birthday.  It was so much fun working with her to design this cake.  Her theme was a fun and funky Alice in Wonderland so it made perfect sense to have a Mad Hatter style cake.  We made sure to incorporate key elements from the movie such as the "Eat Me", tea cup, keys, hat, pocket watch and the Chesire cat (whose tail in only partially seen in the 2nd tier).

Hot Pink and Black 40th

Had so much fun making this cake.  Lots a bling and a pop of pink to celebrate the big 4 - 0!

White Petal Cake

The inspiration for this cake originally came from a Pin my Bride saw on Pinterest.  We modified her cake by designing the eye of her flower in a vibrant blue to incorporate the blues she was using in her wedding.  A million thanks to ImagineArtists for this amazing picture!

Sam I Am First Birthday

This cake was create for a very special "Sam" that had a rough go of life early on with meeting the world a little too early!  I was so happy to be a part of such an incredible day for my client.  Happy Birthday Sam!

Starbucks Coffee Cup

As some of you may or may not know, I used to own a coffee shop. SO, it was very painful for me to make this cake! Luckily it was for a good friend's mom so I was able to work through my distaste of Starbucks and focus on delivering a great cake.

Pink and Grey Damask Wedding Cake

Unfortunately, the lighting from this reception does not help this wedding cake picture at all. The design of the cake was inspired from the brides wedding invitations which were done in a soft pink and grey stamped damask pattern. The design of the cake followed as such. The top tier was elevated with a dark pewter candle stand and was accented with a pink feather and grey fondant ribbon.

Dove Hunt

This was the centerpiece cake for a Dove Hunt, hosted annually by one of my regular customers. The dove was sculpted from rice cereal treats and covered in fondant. The tree log was also made the same way.

Starfish Reception Cake

This buttercream cake was frosted in an ocean blue and accented with fondant starfish and white sugar pearls for a reception from a destination wedding.

Redneck Wedding Cake

I had a unique request from a bride this summer for her wedding cake. She wanted a nontraditional cake in the form of her fiances pickup truck. She also wanted their dog in the truck bed, taking a bite from a traditional "wedding cake". After describing her vision in email, she followed it by saying, "I guess its a little redneck". Well, I honestly think that is far from the case! Weddings are about personalization. And, I think any time you can add elements that represent you as a couple, your entire reception will enjoy it!

Navy Blue Wedding Cake

I was so excited to get complete design freedom on this wedding cake. Between each tier are crystal glass separators. Gumpaste anemones accent the top and bottom of the cake with a variety of other whimsical sugar flowers.

Lily Pulitzer Graduation Cake

This cake was a fun deviation from the traditional style graduation cake. The design and colors of this cake were inspired by Lily Pulitzer Clothing and Stationary Collections.

Cat Dump Truck CT660

Celebrating one of the newest business endeavors for Caterpillar!

Black and White Damask Home Brew Wedding

3 tier butter cream wedding cake decorated with elegant black damask piping. The bride also surprised the groom with a 4 pack of his micro brew beer. Except, this version of his beer is much sweeter than the real stuff!

Purple Flower Branch Wedding Cake

Simple buttercream wedding cake with a basic fondant branch and purple accent flowers.

Pink Peony Wedding Cake

This 5 tier wedding cake was frosted in a whispy buttercream. Each tier was decorated with fondant floral rose cutouts and pearls. 3 bright pink gumpaste peonies anchor the middle tier.

Bronze Wedding Cake

This wedding cake was custom-designed for the bride. The base tier was accented with hot pink sugar diamonds on a quilted pattern and the next tier was adorned with strands of crystals. The cake was elevated with a clear glass cylinder to give it a floating illusion. Wrapped around the silhouetted layer to highlight the bride's wedding colors was dark purple fondant, and last but certainly not least, the top tier was encrusted with hundreds of silver, pink, and gold dragees.

Sushi

Who knew sushi could taste so sweet?!?

Quail and Trout

This birthday cake was created for a gentleman that has a huge love for the outdoors. From hunting to fishing, he has done most of it so I created a Quail and Rainbow Trout to show as such.

Yellow and Black Present

What a great present, cake!

Yellow and Purple Floral Cupcake Wedding

Florals were the inspiration for this cupcake tower. Half of the buttercream cupcakes were covered with clusters of buttercream dropflowers.

Hockey Wedding

The design for this cake was inspired by the couples love of hockey. The obvious cake topper of two fondant hockey sticks and puck depicts this theme. However, subtle reminders of the sport were also included in the other tiers from the base tier incorporating the 5 circle pattern found on the rink floor. The second tier using an abstract pattern of a hockey stick and the top tier using round circles centering around the tier, similar to a hockey puck.

Purple and white wedding cupcakes

For this wedding the bride opted for a cupcake tower and coordinating 8" cake. Additionally, I made a custom gumpaste cake topper of the couple singing Karaoke.

Dr. Seuss Hat

One fish, two fish....how fun is this cake?!? All design elements, including the hat were hand painted. It features Thing 1 and Thing 2, the infamous Cat in the Hat himself and all other funny book elements from the classic story.

Chanel

The request for this birthday cake came from one of my favorite clients who had just returned from a trip to Paris with some of her close friends. The cake was made for one of these girls who adores Chanel. The building is modeled from Chanels flagship store in Paris. The base tier is done in black and white with edible images of Coco and her signature pearls.

Black and White Anemone

This 2 tier buttercream cake was modeled off of a fondant cake my client had seen on line. The anemone was created from gumpaste and the cake was accented in simple black piping.

White and Yellow Daisies

This fondant birthday cake features the birthday girls dog hiding in a bed of white and yellow daisies.

Baby Shower Cupcakes

These cupcakes were created for a baby shower. The fondant flowers adn butterflies were based off of the babies nursery bedding.

Pearl Wedding

The focus for this buttercream wedding cake was elegant pearls. Each tier incorporates some style of pearl. The custom "Z" monogram was completely encrusted in sugar pearls. The pearls were then also repeated in the piped 4 petal flower outline for the flowers eye.

Zoo Wedding

Every now and then wedding clients will give me design freedom to create their wedding cake as I see fit, with some general guidelines. That was the case for this cake. The reception was held at the Peoria Zoo in the Africa exhibit. My instructions were to use sunset colors, and animal prints. I tried to vary the textures on each tier, (which are difficult to see from this picture). This was the final result.

Mad Hatter - Alice in Wonderland

This cake was so much fun to create! It was the celebration cake for my clients 16th birthday where Alice in Wonderland was the theme of the party. The mad hatter style cake is covered in fondant and features Alice falling through the cake as well as the signature card people and talking door.

Diary of a Whimpy Kid

Mason is a big fan of Diary of a Wimpy Kid so it only made sense to create a custom buttercream book for his birthday.

Puppy's First Birthday

This birthday cake was made for Meyer's first birthday. Frosted in buttercream, the puppy has a soft pink fondant bow.

Princess Tiara

This buttercream birthday cake is fit for a princess. Accented in fondant decor, the tiara is also an edible piece made from gumpaste.

Bishop's Installation

I recently traveled to Springfield to deliver this cake for a Bishop's Installation. The cocktail reception for 200 was held at the Old State Capital Building. Because of the location of the party, it was requested that the design of the cake reflect Abraham Lincoln. The base tier of the cake is representative of Lincoln's log cabin. I actually used chocolate Pirouette cookies to create the log effect. The second tier has custom made fondant pennies, alternating Lincoln's profile and the Lincoln Memorial. The third tier is a traditional Presidential swag followed by Lincolns signature black top hat. I also chose to include a picture of the building itself. Aside from being honored to create a cake for this special event, I was equally moved by the majestic beauty of this building.

Pink and Zebra Print Wedding Cake

The design of this cake was a collaborative effort between both the bride and I. When a bride has an idea of what she wants for a cake, I will typically sketch 3 or 4 options for her to pick from. This time, the bride took elements from each of my designs and added her own twist to it, creating the cake pictured above. This cake was adorned with a multitude of Swarovski crystals on the top and base tiers. The light pink found in the second tier was used throughout her reception. The zebra print gave it a fun and playful feel. The pink crystal studded topper was created by Heaven on Earth.

Yellow and White Summer Flower Wedding

My Bride-to-Be for this particular cake loved the look of gum paste flowers. She wanted a wedding cake that showcased the flowers but was also soft and summery. The design I created had over 100 white sugar flowers on the second and top tier. A handmade, gum paste sugar flower bouquet topped the cake. Additionally, the bride surprised her groom with a tuxedo grooms cake. It was a chocolate cake filled with fresh strawberries and topped with tuxedo dipped strawberries.
